What! 35k!!!!!! The will never sell these things when you can buy a true high-line car for that money. Apparently, their dismal experience with Infiniti hasn't taught them a thing (ugly car + high price = crappy sales). BMW, here I come...

(PS Nissan has obviously lost it's frickin' mind... challenge me if you will, but the numbers will prove me right.)

Base price is $28,000. How is that unreasonable?

Before you get your bags all packed, keep in mind the fact that that $35,000 will be for a decked-out, ba%@s-to-the-wall model. The 2003 could get up to about $33,000.The price won't be going up very much, and your getting way more in the way of features. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
Now you can go back to packing your bags. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Well, it's not for a stripped out car, but who buys those things? Look, I'm a huge Nissan fan, but when Nissan starts pricing themselves up with the big boys, it is a mistake. So all you dealers can unwad your panties- this is just my opinion.... and it's still a hacked together crappy looking car compared to the '97-99's and 2000 series. (And to anyone listening- Nissan almost always has secret manufacturer to dealer discounts, so start by looking for a $5-6k break and go from there.

I may not like the looks or agree with there pricing strategy- but Nissan does build a hell of a good car (I've had 4 Maximas, and currently have a 2002 plus a Pathfinder plus a Frontier). But I won't buy a funny looking car at any price... maybe if they replace that cheap plastic grill???

wah...

the people complaining so much about the grille are the type of people that would probably get an aftermarket grille no matter what- so I don't see it as a big problem - you can change it. In any case, if the grille is the worst thing about the car, then I say GOOD JOB Nissan!

Who buys cars with every single option? About the same percentage that buys base vehicles, actually. We're talking about a "when fully loaded" price increase of 1-2K here. Go back and look at the mechanical and feature improvements of the 2004 over previous models and come back to talk. The car is far from hacked together and I would assume (because I haven't driven it but am familiar with Nissan) it isn't crappy. Of course your second paragraph contradicts the first, so I'm not sure if you think it's crappy or if you think Nissan builds one hell of a car.

I'll save shooting down your "secret discount" post for another thread, but in short, I wish you luck in achieving that. If you don't like the design, hey, opinions are like a$$holes -- girls keep offering them to me.

I think the numbers take into account 10+ percent discount that's normal on current Maximas.

Speaking of price, what is the starting price of SE trim vs SL trim? Also, what are the prices of the option packages and how are they bundled? Usually by this time of a vehicles near introduction someone would have posted this info. You guys are slippin'!!!! http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Its because most of us salesman don't really know the package costs or price of trim levels. Nissan pretty much keeps the cards close to their chest on these things. I have seen the packages though and they do sound good. As far as over all price, I too was kinda shocked at first until I saw it in person. This is a really good looking car folks, both inside and out.
