Hello:

I am considering purchasing a Nissan Patrol SUV somewhere abroad and brining it back to the United States. It my understanding that if this is done, the vehicle needs to be modified to United States automotive specifications. Does anyone know the name and or phone number of a company that provides this service?

it likely won't meet our emissions standards and the gov't will not pass it for roadway use without crash testing it...basically the regulations are there to make it impossible to bring one over for normal driving (only for racing, etc can you bring it over since it will not be driven on public roads)
