There is a picture in the May issue of Popular Mechanics. It is the issue that has the caption "War of the X-planes" on the cover. I was looking at the mag at Krogers and low and behold there is a picture (not a drawing) of the QX56. Perhaps someone can scan the pic.

Was I wrong in thinking that the QX56 was to make it to dealerships by the end of 2003?

Hey buddy, it's 2003 now. You're saying Infiniti initially said it would be out 2 months ago?

I dont think out 2 months ago. It was suppose to be debuted since two months ago as a 2004 concept i believe

I read in the Nissan annual report (available at nissan-global.com) that the Infiniti SUV was due out in FY 2003, which is 1 April 2003 - 31 March 2004. Nothing more specific.

I read this article before, and like I said, they don't want to see another fullsize SUV. Tough. Infiniti is going to kick the Escalade around and then some. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'd recommend a cross-over Minivan before another full size SUV. Those SUV's are dumb enough idea as it is before Detroit decided to Supersize them. Sigh~ typical American way: The bigger the better.

I highly doubt it. I've seen a couple different sketches and they all look different and speculated. This a photoshop, looks like artist interpretation with Armada cues over an Escalade pic. Nissan is on a roll, I doubt the SUV flagship will be that dull and derivative.

What are Lexus' plans for the LX? Are they going to just dump it, or are they going to keep it and have a 4-SUV lineup (yikes!)? I hear that the Land Cruiser/Lexus LX might be going out, and Lexus might do a rebadge job on the Sequoia. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Otherwise, the QX56 is definitely going to be out LX-hunting. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Hard to say, as Toyota makes huge $$$ on the Land Cruiser/LX470. A few years back, the rumor was that the LC would go away, as Lexus sells every LX470 they can import. But Toyota dealers wouldn't hear of it...
The Sequoia is set to be rebadged as a Lexus, as they need a larger SUV in their line to compete.
If I were a betting man, I'd say that the LC will remain for quite some time, as it is produced for other markets anyways (with different mechanicals) and the profits are hard to ignore. But I don't have any more Toyota insider info, so I'm not sure...
BTW - for a better look at the Infiniti full-size SUV, start with the Pathy Armada pics and think about different front & rear fascias. That sketch above isn't that good.

I saw a sketch that was much more wagon-like, but i think it is pretty accurate, cause there is not much you can do to a truck. Same thing with a truck-based SUV, it won''t be round and sculpted because of common sense. In fullsizers, you need more utility to style, so i say that this may very well be closest to the QX56 we got
