Replacing Hirshberg as president of NDI, effective October 1, 2000, will
be Tom Semple who will report directly to Nakamura. Semple is currently on
assignment in Japan at Nissan's Technical Center, as an assistant to the
director of design. Hiroshi Matsubara, vice president, will guide NDI until
Semple's return. Additionally, Bruce Campbell has been named NDI's new
director of design, succeeding Semple.
> my comment: what's interesting is that the new NDI president will report directly to Shiro Nakamura in Japan. Will we see wild products like the Vehicross?

What's more interesting is Paleta will become the chairman of NDI in a move to consolidate and bring NDI under full control of Nissan.
NDI operated with a small degree of autonomy in the past but this may change things.

I am afraid that this new board looks like a bunch of older men (except if Lou Knierim is a woman.) Why aren't there any women on the team. And what is the average age of this Board. I do not know, but I am willing to gusess that it must be around 55. This is not the kind of Board that can be imaginative enough to get to the kind of customer that Nissan so badly wants, those under 35 or so. I hope that I am wrong

I hope you are wrong also http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif
And you may be, because like any company Nissan (I HOPE TO GOD) does market research and they damn well know what the Gen X'ers want. They used to be real good at it, i dont know what happened in the latter 90's but hopefully it will improve in the coming years.

The boardroom may not have any women, but the frontline certainly does. I see Diane Allen's name associated with the new redesigned Frontier and current Sentra. As far as Gen-X marketing goes, Nissan has one of the best success stories ever -- the Xterra. It's Gen-Y that I worry about.
