How about it folks?
3.8L SC V6: 260/280
3600Lb Curb Weight
ABS & TC
They claim, through independent testing that it beat out the 330i (I know the 325 is a better driving machine) in lap time and 1/4 mile times.

On an aside, out of the 20 cars tested, the Altima 3.5 SE placed first in skidpad, registering .844g

3600lbs??? WTF!?!?! Is there a Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers for Pontiacs?!?!?!? http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And, are there optomotrists available to those that designed the sheet metal?? The car is not attractive at all. Yes, the tupperware and rubbermaid trim is gone, but oh my, what ugliness!

And Lutz wants Pontiac to compete with BMW.... http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/rolleyes1.gif Not there yet - nor do they even look remotely close (although BMW is getting uuglier, they aren't that uugly yet!).

Why on earth anyone would make wheels that look like such a$$ in this day and age is beyond me. And its such a simple thing to fix...

I read a review. 1-sec, 4-speed shifts with the paddles.
Boring.
A lot of what Lutz is doing is GM no-brainers. But I guess one brain is better than none.

Great engine, not so great styling

What's so great about the engine? The 3.5L V6 in the 350Z is normally aspirated, not supercharged like the Grand Prix, and it puts out 287hp and 274lbs-ft of torque. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif

looks like they need the cts i engine in there

There's a little problem with that. It's the idea of putting a 350ci V-8 under the hood of a front-wheel drive sedan. Physics, ya ever heard of it? http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That car is expensive...it's like 30k...I'd rather get a 350Z

And smoke it!

Gand Prix looks decent for a GM family sedan. This is "not your father's Oldsmobile" because they killed off Oldsmobile. Bonneville is supposed to be getting a V8, still FWD. Why am I even thinking about GM now when I could be doing something useful, like picking my nose?! http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nissan hasn't heard of it.
But GM has
Take a look at the 300 hp + Deville FWD.

"Nissan hasn't heard of it."

If Nissan hasn't heard it, then Honda must be in the deaf about it. 500-600+ hp running from a 4 banger and its FWD.

Someone has a new black Grand prix in town. The front
looks fine, but the rest of the car looks odd.

Far from Nissan and BMW. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The new CTS gets a new 3.6-liter, 255 hp V6 that appears better on paper than the Jurrasic-era blown 3.8-liter V6.

The RWD CTS-V gets the Z06 motor, but I agree that a powerful V8 in a FWD vehicle is lame. Try this while driving a Northstar-equipped FWD Caddy: change lanes while flooring the throttle. Talk about a thrill ride...

From a design standpoint, other than losing the cladding, I like the old Grand Prix design better. The fog lights on the new one can see tomorrow, they're so big! The a$$ on this thing is not inviting at all and yes, the rims are straight 1984. Plus, although the interior is better, the floor shifter looks like crap, and the dash isn't sexy at all.

From a performance standpoint, it might be the best domestic available under 30 grand that's not named SRT-4. It still won't match up the foreigners in overall value, but the blue oval and the German-Americans.

I would imagine there is major torque steer.
My point was merely to indicate that in order to compete with a G35 they have to place a v8 in there http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I never drove Deville, but I have heard many times that it has almost zero torque steer. So maybe it's not that bad in terms of torque steer.

My dad has a deville. Great car - virtually no torque steer. He just had to get rid of it but he loved it when he drove it.
