Neither Edmunds nor Toyota's website says anything about a 2004 convertible for the Solara. I thought I read that the droptop would be coming later in 2004, or in 2005. Anybody's notes got the details on this?

Not anyone in Michigan... unless they buy it for that thaw we get sometime in January or February (usually one warm week surrounded by 2-3 weeks which are the coldest for the year).

Well, the convertable didn't come out until two years after the Solara's introduction. So maybe were looking at 2006? It's all a guessing game at this point though.

It's testing, I expect it to be shown at NAIAS, like the Corolla, and on Sale in summer 2004 as a 2005

Damn that's one nice looking Toyota convertible! How come Nissan doesn't have something like this?!?!? http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If it's just an issue of "production capacity" and "brand image," once Nissan gets its production lines in order and people want Nissans (as opposed to "Toyotas and Hondas"), then Altima could be done as a coupe or convertible, right?
Toyota obviously should plan for an April or May launch for the convertible. They have to have enough out on the lots to sell for the summer. Releasing the 350Z last Fall, I think, was sort of silly.

The Solara convertible is planned to enter production early next year with sales beginnning in the spring of 2004 (probably as a 2005 model).
