With Enzo looks, carbon bodyshell and gullwing doors, you would expect this supercar to wear a Ferrari badge. But in fact, this is the Honda Sports Concept (HSC) - and it's tipped to become the all-new NSX. What's more, just like the Italian stunner, it will cause a real stir with cutting-edge technology.

The current NSX has been on sale since 1991, and its all-alloy construction and no-compromise chassis created a vehicle capable of worrying traditional supercar brands. Honda aims to do the same with this model, using carbon-fibre panels similar to those on the likes of the Enzo and Porsche Carrera GT.

It has the looks to match them, too; the headlamps resemble the existing NSX, but otherwise the styling is all-new. The sharp edges and flat sides aren't only for effect, though, as the HSC's aerodynamics have been tuned to give greater downforce at speed without the need for big external spoilers. At the rear, the LED tail-lights have a holographic 3D effect and a glass screen exposes the mid-mounted engine. Unlike the Enzo, the Honda makes do with a revamped 3.0-litre V6 rather than a V12, but it now produces 300bhp and is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. The interior, accessed via scissor-action doors, uses blue carbon fibre and a minimalist 'skeletal' dash structure, while the gearlever is replaced by a paddleshifter. Yet despite the technology, Honda insists that the new NSX will be no more expensive than the old car when it arrives in 2005. Tom Barnard

I apologize if I have offended you in some way. But this is an article related to the nsx, I have not created a thread on the new NSX before this thread. Also if this article has been posted before, please provide the proper link and I would be happy to delete it.

Don't pay attention to the stressed-out member from East Lansing. He needs some sleep and a good bottle of Snapple.

Only an increase of 10 bhp to 300 ? http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/rolleyes1.gif http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

A$$ end looks vette-ish.
Actually, the whole thing looks like Logitech or some other joystick maker was contracted to do the whole thing.

That's a good one.

I wonder if the writer knows that the stunner is how the Enzo performs, not now it looks or what it is made of...

http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/mad.gif C'mon Honda, are you trying to kill the NSX!? 300 hp from a 3.0L V6 engine is impressive. But the sports car-world has changed since 1989. Please give the next NSX a minimum of ~400 hp.

Woah, I thought the car would have more power.

Ahhsk

what are guestimates on weight? 300hp is still a nice chunk of horse power especially in a "light" car.

I really don't think that they are going backwards in displacement. I am putting my money on 3.5L and close to 350HP.

There's a little too much happening on that that I don't like... not my tastes. Not to mention, you won't be able to see what's happening behind with that sliver of glass.

i don't see how anything mentioned even puts this nsx on the same page as an enzo.

Question. On the center console is that the E-brake? And is it an Auto(MTX will jump for joy!) as I dunt see a clutch pedal...come to think of it I can't even find the shifter.??? Is it Wheels paddles, if so Honda did a good job of hiding them.

There are similarities in the style of the exterior between this concept NSX and the Ferrari Enzo; nothing more.

Honda does well enough in various high-tech racing series that they have no need to prove themselves with an ultra-super-street car (nor do they need the cash from its sales like Ferrari does). Therefore, the next NSX will probably take on the 360 in much the same way that the first NSX took on the 360's predecessor: by offering a mid-engine exotic sports car with awesome handling, excellent reliability, and a sub-exotic price. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't know about that center stick; my guess is the same as yours: it's the e-brake handle.

You said it.

The Mosler MT900 weighs 1980 lbs dry.
0-60@3.5 sec
1/4= 12@118
70-0@149 ft
300 ft= 1.02 g

I think Honda should have to beat the MT900R at least.

bit of clarification:
"HSC"- High Speed Concept; its a Concept Study, "rumor" to be NSX replacement. Engine 3.5L, console mounted "dial select" transmission with steering wheel paddle gear selection.

http://auto.ascii24.com/issue/2003/1015/article54442_1.html

as for its similarity with Enzo, perhaps it should be suggested Ken Okuyama had something to do with it? As the ex chief of Pininfarina, he designed the Rossa, 456M, Enzo, Modena and 612 Scaglietti. He also worked on the C5 Vette(note the tail fender of HSC), 911, Boxter and Maserati.

Honda's going thru corporate restructuring currently, with new president, new subsidiaries, new mfg facilities. S2000-NSX production will be moving to Suzuka.

So I'm guessing all-talk-and-no-go honda will make this a v-8, but it will be seriously underpowered for its competition. Go NSX! http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/rolleyes1.gif

Did honda ever say that it may make a V-8 NSX? I never heard of that before. And HP alone don't speak for the car. If it has a lot of carbon fiber, then it'll be very light, quick and grate handler.

Get it around that weight with 300 hp and it might be decent, but to NSX standards. Give it 400 hp and I'd say it's worth $100K.
