hmmm
It looks like the QX4 on steroids. Looks like they took a QX4, stretched out its wheelbase, stretched the sheet metal vertically and then shortened its overhangs (kinda looks dumpy, in a long and tall kind of way)? Something I imagine to see if I placed the QX4 infront of one of those funny circus mirrors.

Looks like they borrowed a page from the GMC styling department.

Quite dissapointing considering how much of an impact the G35 styling and the FX styling has made. They could've made it a much larger sexier version of the FX35. Styling seems like a step back. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

If the FX is a 'Bionic Cheetah', then the QX56 must be a 'Bionic Pot Belly Pig'?

I am hoping someone 'skewed' this image by mistake because it looks awfully stubby and way too tall for its own good.

I think this will go against GX 470, or GX got fat http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif
But I expected more http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I expected more too. It's too similar to the Armada, especially the interior. And the front end treatment doesn't transfer well from the FX. I like the side profile, though.

Hey, when did they start offering Bird's Eye Maple in the Armada? What did you say? That's not the Armada? Are you sure?
comparably to toerhs in this segment i think ou guys are abunch of fun crushers, you think its going to suck yet it hasnt come out yet, how bout you all shut up and wait and see, what if it has half the impact the the h2 had, i dont care if it sell 15k it will be succesful if it sells 10k it will be succesful
i thought the fx would flop due to radical styling and it certainly didnt, maybe extreme performance combined with conventional yet elegant styling will do just as well
remember its not bad, its just not what we wanted from it

A few things I noticed, all fairly minor. It looks like it's a straight rotary AC system, not a digital climate control. Also, no tape deck. The clock placement looks like an afterthought. Not exactly easy to read down there.
I've seen the engine is rated at 310hp with 380 ft/lb torque and a 8,900 lb towing capacity. Could be fun for certain things.

Compared to others in the segment, it doesn't do enough to differentiate(?) itself, there's nothing unique about the QX56 that really distances itself from the Armada. From what I see, I'll save $10k and buy a loaded Armada with a better looking front end.

That is the best!!! Anyone notice the analog clock. what is the deal with that. That thing is not visible to the eye at all, its sitting all the way down on the console, it seems as though they forgot the analog clock until the last moment. The styling i can live with as i dont give a *beep about SUV's and dont find any of them appealing other than the FX i guess.

The Escalade was the first of its kind, so I guess it's forgivable. Infiniti... it's almost 2004, come on. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/blush.gif
someone mentioned the climate control as a rotary, i think its rotary controlled but the temperature readouts are def. posted on the screen so it is digital

Thank God for my FX and my G35. I am so glad I took the plunge early rather than wait for this ode to yesteryear

After the groundbreaking introduction of the G35/G35C and the FX35/45.... I feel like Infiniti has taken two steps back with the QX56 design. I really hope it finds its niche market, as I want Infiniti to do well. I really hope the pictures do not do this stubby looking monster justice.

Caution: When "replying" to someone who posted a grip of pics....DON'T include ALL the pics again! It cludders the forum too much. (Original Replier or some Mod should edit...)
For a good comparo on lux SUV's(inlcuding the QX56), go to the QX56 Infiniti home page and click on compare. You will c that the SUV compares toe to toe and hand to hand with features and brute force... And please don't be so quick to judge...

I understand there isnt much you can do to the exterior, but what about the interior ? You mean to tell me that the '56' can even have " INFINITI " embroidered on the front and rear seat backs http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/mad.gif ? It looks like they could redesigned the entire middle part of the console ( dash board ), not the vents but just the middle part since they were able to install an Analog clock behind the shift lever. I was expecting a lot more from the interior, considering INFINITI used words like ' Progressive' on the teaser website, INFINITI had more than enough time to get the interior right, how much would it have cost to redesign the part in between the vents on the dash board. Some will say how could you expect them to redesign the entire interior, if for some reason it doesnt sell well, watch how fast the interior is made over http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Actually, it wasn't. The Navigator debut'ed in 1998 and was the one to spark the Luxo-SUV market. Caddy was stuck scrambling for something to compete in '99....
i have to agree, you guys wanted somethin amazing, this more than handles the competition, its not as good as it could have been but it will get better

wow. the yukon denali to 99 Escalade is a TRUE rebadge. i mean, the headlights and even the RIMS are exactly the same on both SUV's. the only thing different on those SUV's is the BADGES. lol.
The QX56 is not what we had hoped for, but it isnt that bad. if only they lowered the thing more and put bigger rims on it. theres a photoshop around here of the QX with bigger rims, and it really helps the look dramatically.
give the QX a chance. its 15 thousand dollars cheaper then a Lexus LX470 (starts at 64,500) and with the same exact features and more. plus, it has 315 horsepower compared to the sh!tty 235 on the Lexus.
