We are actually studying the FTC case in my antitrust/government regulation class regarding
the restartup of the Fremont (NUMMI) plant when
GM and Toyota decided to go 50-50.
I would have put this in Why/Why Not Nissan, because
IMO Toyota is a wuss. Yes, Georgetown and their other North American plants are finally online, but Honda and Nissan beat them by a mile in assembling cars in North America. And they didn't need to use a GM plant in California to do it, either.
