Hello everyone. I am an FX45 owner. My boyfriend and I just bought a 93 J30 as a project.

First modification i wanted to work on is what is the best way to get an aftermarket system installed.

Also for the door speakers, what size are compatible?

What is the STANDARD bolt pattern for the j30? What is the largest size wheels it can drive on safely?

Where can I find some aftermarket mods and cheap factory parts?

Thank you for your help everyone much is appreciated!!

Did you realize that the J30 shares most of it's components with the 90-96 300zx? Same engine, most of the suspension is the same, even the super-hicas. Basically, given that info, you should be able to put on whatever will fit on a Z! That means, a 17 should fit fine, possibly 18, but you don't want to go too big on it because then you are slowing the car down and ruining the ride. Nice FX by the way.

It really bugs me and is a pet peeve when people think they know what they are talking about but they have no clue. No 18's are not the biggest you can put on the J. You can put 20's on the J30 and ride comfortable and without modification.

Please read my post again, maybe have someone else help you if you need, but where did I say that 20's wouldn't fit? I merely recommended that 18 might be as big as one might want to go, and the reasons there are many. Have you ever heard of unsprung vehicle mass? Rolling resistance? Suspension geometry? Sidewalls, and what affect they have on ride quality? Price? Basically, by oversizing, every bit you oversize has an exponentially negative affect on all of these, resulting in slower performance times, a harsher ride, less ability to control in mid corner bumps and an inability to adjust the alignment properly to the oversized wheels. For all show, no go, applications, 20's look neat, but when was the last time you saw a SCCA car with 20's? Think there's any reason for that there Einstein?

The bolt pattern is 5x114.3. Any 300zx, G35, or 240sx (with a 5 lug pattern) wheel will fit.

Awesome! Cuz I'm grabbind a Pearl White J30 in like 3 weeks and I want a set of G35 coupe rims but with a gunmetal tint to them. Also, I'm getting ready to perform an HID retrofit using Hella ECE Bi-Xenon Xenon projectors and transporting my existing system from my Lexus in there. Its gonna be one hot ride...anyhow thanks for the info!

for the record,a j30 does not share any suspension components with other model nissans as far as springs struts, sway bars, you would have to have all made.it does share the same front rotors with a 90-96 Q45.

with a 3/4" baffle 8 inch speakers will fit front doors..cant be more than 2.75 speaker depth.i run idq 8's for midbass in my front doors,in fiberglass boxes.take the main oem box out make a baffle.there ya go. at one time i ran 2 6.5's in each front door, but i got modified door panels and solid hondoran mohagony speaker grills.

About the rim sizes... it's true that you can fit 20's but you would have strut/spring clearence problems in the front. I think is useless if you have tall but skinny rims( ex: 18x7.5). You can put rims as wide as 10.5 inches in the rear with out clearence problems since the rear sub frame is identicle to the s14 sub frame. For clearence in the front just get H&R's Trak+ wheel spacers. Good Luck

diamond j30, you should post some pics of your setup, how do the struts/springs differ from the zx setup? i've been thinking of building a j30, and would like to know more about the suspension, tons of pics would be nice http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i had with koni work on the strut issue back in 98.sent him everything on the oem when i had the springs being made.what part exactly that is did,im not sure, put the tops are diff i know that, the size and how they bolt up.on the rear i sent koni eom and had them make them shorter, cause no crossover parts,i exhausted all possibilities.i used to have streo related pics on carsound, but im redoing so,voided it,some of it,lol..plus i dont know how to post pics on this site.i do have a pic folder on yahoo infinti club and infinitij30 club. front struts are inserts so look oem exept for adjusting nut, rears look like full on race at least 3 inch cylinder, big
