2014 Cadillac CTS at the NYIAS

I'm pretty speechless for now because I have a huge exam in 44 hours and this car looks so perfect that I can't really describe it.

The posters on another forum were saying that this is Cadillac's E39- referencing BMW's sublimely-styled late-90s 5-Series design. I think that they may be close to that with this sedan. I am a huge fan of the E-class, especially post-FL, but this looks even better to me. The M is still my top pic in this segment but it's not necessarily for the way it looks, though it's still nice in my eyes. Infiniti has some work to do there in light of these recent entries which are modern, expensive-looking and impeccably proportioned. No doubt the Q70 will start the ball rolling for them.

Much more like the XTS than the ATS. I have to hand it to GM on recent Caddy styling - they're getting it right.

If I have any complaints, it's that the sides of the car look kinda slabby and plain ... even some BSM's would help break up the flatness. And the car looks unnaturally low in these pictures (and the video). Part of it is the smallish wheels and tires ... something that plagued the original CTS ... but the ground clearance looks awfully low to me. I say jack it up a little so it doesn't look so low-riderish. Last but not least, I'll bet the price is in the sky. There was an ATS at the Dallas Auto Show recently, and it seems like the sticker was in the high $40k range. That's seriously pricey for their smallest car, and it makes me wonder what this larger car might fetch.

Still ... this and the XTS look really impressive. And I'm not a GM fan!

The biggest news here is the new twin-turbo V6 with a total output of 420 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be offered on a new CTS model, called Vsport (not to be confused with the V-Series, which will be a real monster), as well as in the 2014 XTS (which is FWD )

At 118 hp/liter, this engine is the most power-dense six-cylinder in the segment (SAE certified.)

FWIW, this is also Cadillac’s first twin-turbo engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.

    P.S.
This CTS actually looks better than the MB E-class.

I agree that it looks better than the E-class. I love the E-class and love the facelift even more with its more organic front end and the pontoon-delete. But this car looks better integrated right from the start. It remains to be seen if the CTS will be as solid in build quality and reliability as the W212 E, which is clearly Mercedes's best effort in this class in over two decades. I haven't driven them but going by reviewer impressions the CTS is renowned as being a bit more of a driver's car than the E, though the E63 AMG and CTS-V are a close battle.
