Sold my g35 after 10 1/2 years of ownership

Fresh Alloy was the first forum I ever belonged to and at the time it was huge. I purchased my 2004 G35 Coupe in July 2003 and took delivery in Sept 2003. My car was completely stock and looked equivalent to a new car. It had 56,000 miles when I sold it on Feb 3rd 2014. I was asking $14,900 and had only received a few calls. The 3 times I showed it, I was offered $13,000 and turned them all down. After approximately 5 weeks on the market during the 4th showing I Sold it for $14,200. The bonus was that I received another $700 back from Infiniti for my proration on my Infiniti Elite factory extended warranty. I paid $34,000 for this car new and got back 44% of it's value after over 10 years. That's pretty impressive, but my car was close to a museum piece. Keeping it that way was not easy and it took a lot out of me, parking away from other cars, having it constantly garaged, and taking care of every single item that needed attention. We all know how weak the interiors are. I had my seat bolster changed 2 times and the seat side repaired to look like new. Compression rods,CD player,steering spindle,ball jonts, wheel bearings, ceramic pads, window motor and actuator and items I just can't remember....Oh yes....Tires, tires, and more tires. The G35 Coupe did like to eat tires. It was a super reliable car and never once let me down. For me, it was time for a change. Last November I purchased a 2010 Jaguar XK Coupe with 4,800 miles from the original owner. We can't keep all our cars, but I always will have fond memories of my G35 and this forum. I posted many times here and learned a lot. Good luck to all the forum members and enjoy what is certainly one of the best looking, classic designs that came from Infiniti. So long for now.

Palmerwind. Thank you so much for the very kind words. After so many years, leaving the forum does feel like losing a family member. Change is a big part of life and it's something we all must deal with. I am sad to leave my friends who have given me such great support and info during my 10 years of ownership. I truly enjoyed my car thoroughly for the entire decade of ownership. It was a great looking car that never looked dated. To me it was the best designed Coupe to date! I could certainly have seen myself keeping my G35 for the balance of my life and leaving it to one of my grandchildren, but in the real world that would not be practical. I probably will be stopping by to see my old friends and possibly throw in some words of wisdom. I do know a lot about the first generation G35! Take care everyone and stay well.

I feel you... I bought my coupe in early 2004 (2003 6mt), I remember the excitement... I ordered it from Grubbs, seemed forever for delivery... Bottom line, I just paid $1350 (to Grubbs) for an oil change and to get my drivers side window working again... They replaced the motor, regulator, and the door lock actuator.. I've been dealing with problems with the electronics of this car for the last 5 years... Not using the window, having to manually lock the drivers side door, etc... It has only 93k on it, I just can't let it go, ya know? It still runs/drives like almost new because I've maintained it throughout all these years.. If Infiniti or Lexus or Acura (even BMW) would have put out a car to make me want to switch, I would, but they have all fallen short... Can't justify getting rid of the G for another car until it is not the best looking car on the road (excluding exotics). Seriously, not one car has turned my head since 2003 like the G35 coupe... G37, not even close, Lexus copy... Please suggest any alternatives which have a 6mt with the ground breaking looks of the "G Coupe"...

Well, if you love the way your G looks, you know there's nothing out there that looks comparable except maybe the Nissan Z.

What you might want to consider is having your G "restored" and updated. That costs a chunk of money, but it's cheaper than buying a new one, and you can end up with basically a new car, and one that looks totally unique. Shops like Martin Bros. Customs (seen on 'Iron Resurrection' on TV) near Austin, and others, can really transform a car.

I still think about my ownership of the G35......and as a matter of fact, enough to have purchased last year a 2017 QX50 completely loaded. Yes it's not a sexy Coupe but it is the last of the Infiniti line with the same "bones" as the original G35. V6 with variable timing, 6 speed transmission (not CVT), reliable rear wheel drive, and handles quite well. I know this is not the subject area for this car but I wanted to drop by to shoot the breeze. I hope all the members are doing well and enjoying their rides.....even if they are getting older....but personally, the first series G35 Coupe was the nicest looking of all the Coupes to date!

That screaming V8 is intoxicating, and the handling is sublime. Not to mention the car can do it all - be a canyon carver and track monster one moment, and then do quiet daily commuting with no complaints. There weren't many cars that I coveted while I owned my G, but the 911 (997's) and E92 M3 were the two that I did. Finally found one that was in great shape and had the specs I wanted.

That being said, I am still in the Infiniti family as I bought my daughter a 2008 EX35 AWD with 80K+ miles that was in great shape and it's a great car for her. Reliable, luxurious, safe, fun to drive and good in the winter.

I too am still in the Infiniti family with the purchase of a new 2017 QX50 last January with is the same car as your EX35 except a longer wheelbase and larger engine. Good luck to you and enjoy your BMW. I'm loving my Jaguar XK as well.

Nice! I've been seeing lots of the QX50's on the road and they are beautiful. I have to say as well that Infiniti's new variable compression engine is an interesting concept to look at in the next few years.
