    Poor Experience at Lecknar Nissan

Went today to Lecknar Nissan to test drive some newer Altimas.
They have a good inventory of used 2013 Altimas which is the generation I am interested in.

Test drove a few.. kind a liked one but since their advertised price on New Altimas was so low when the sales man asked me if I wanted to "do numbers" on a new one I said "sure" since I remembered the basic 2016 Altimas advertised price was only 3000-3500 above that of most of their used 2013s.

When the guy came back he gave me numbered that proved the advertised "sale price" had been just a bait-and-switch.

Its presupposed $2000 dollars worth of factory rebates I was not eligible for (few people are) and added $1183 dollars of "installed accessories".
NO clue what they were.. maybe pinstriping and rust proofing??

On top of that they have a "doc fee" of nearly $800!!

Of course there was no deal even though I made what I thought was a fair offer on a 2013 they didnt even try to sell me that car and just kept trying to "work something out" on a 2016...

To add injury to insult (yes I switched it for a reason) when I put a bag of fast food into my footwell after I got back to my block I noticed 3 hases in the foot well trim in my G35 that weren't there before!!!!

One of the "inspectors" (all they did was look up auction book anyway but they moved the car twice!) must have had heavy footwear with the metal shoe lace holders and not been paying attention while he rummaged thru the car!

How do I know for sure it happend there??

Because I just yesterday I had my gym bag in and out (which BTW is too light to cause any gashes like that even if it did have sharp edges) and the trim was perfect.

I take a ot of pride in the interior of the G being near flawless.
About as near to flawless as a car this age can possibly be.

There is the unavoidable wear on the steering wheel and some very mild wear on the l4eather but nothing else!

Or at least there WAS nothing else!!!!

the longest gash is about .6 inch long the shortest and lightest is about .2 inch long.

And no they are not scratches they are gashes which can only come form a human beings weight.

it would cost real dollars to replace that panel I bet something I cannot possibly justify..
So now those gases will probably be there for the rest of the cars life.

To make matters worse they are in the IMMEDIATE line of sight of any passenger who might come in!!!!!

Sorry to hear this palmerwind. There is no excuse for trying to mark up a basic car (basic nice car). The rest of this stuff also unreasonable. What the heck? There is a better deal down the road. However the doc fees are not going away. Dealers have colluded with this. They all now charge it and while everything in life is supposed to be negotiable, seems this one no longer is.

The bottom line to me is to always have your own price ready. You dictate the terms. If the doc fee is not acceptable include it in you bottom line price. Sounds like these folks were out to get your wallet. Move on..

Just remember, you went in looking for used and then played with new. So, expect to be taken advantage of when it appears to them you don't know what you want. They're throwing darts at the wall.

I just bought a relatively expensive car and treated as expected. But no matter what car you are buying the story should not change. I got unexpected rebates, better than advertised pricing, etc. So, try again. You will do better.

Do you really want the 13 or the new one?

I like the lricing on the 13s. They are about 2/3rds the price of the 16s its seems.
That would be my first choiuce if I could find the right color and trim combo..

    The 16s are sharp.
Love'em.. just not sure I can justify a brand new car when I live only 6 miles from work and my G35 still runs like a champ and drives as well or better than the 16 Altima ( which has of course other qualities room practicality mpg etc etc)

No one respects your stuff anymore. Everytime I take the Mustang for service, it comes back with more & more boot scuffs on the door panels from techs & SR's just carelessly getting in & out.

As for the Altima - lots of dealers playing games these days & the 'stealer fee' bit is not going away, seems the add-on stickers keep getting more & more outrageous as well. I can remember $99 'doc fees', and a small bump for useless crap like fabric protection & now some of them have $1500 - $2000 worth of add-on crap (all useless junk) and I've even seen dealers with 2 fees (local Dodge dealer of all places - $799 dealer fee + $299 doc fee + their $1500 add-on sticker). I'm continually amazed that ppl buy from them

Pretty much now I decide what I'm willing to pay out the door & offer that much - they can put the #'s anywhere they want on the contract as long as the bottom line is what I gave them. I've seen insane prices here on used base Altima's - like '14's for $22K - what a joke !!! If you're going to buy new, try TrueCar, I've had good luck with that & they have to disclose all their fees & add-on crap in the quote.

Lucky for me I got the Mustang with a friends x-plan & that sets the price and only allows them to charge a $100 fee with no add-on crap (unless I wanted it).

I just reminded myself of F'ed up the car tax is here in VA.
    Almost 5% per year.

Its like paying sapes tax anew every year.

On a 20,000 car thats nearly a thousand dollars a year just to help the state grow its lazy workforce.
    I'm not doing it.

Decided to stick with my 2 older vehicles for a while yet

Speaking of silly fees, the dealers who charge a "make-ready" fee really slay me. ALL dealers have to do some work on new cars to get them ready for sale ... remove protective plastic, install some small things like wheel centers, mats, etc., and generally wash and clean up the car. It's just part of the operation, and in most cases it's something they do in 20 minutes or so. And it's their lowest-paid employees who do it, by the way. So inventing a new fee for something they've always done is an insult, and it just shows they're looking for an excuse to charge more. What's next, a fee for bringing the car from the back lot to the front? Airing up the tires? Removing that little airbag warning tag hanging out of the glove box?
If someone blows up a school with a bomb they go after the bomber ... if someone shoots up a school they go after the gun.

A privilege is just a right that has been taken away by government.

Political correctness is cowardice wrapped in a lie.

I've had the same problem all along with the doc or tag fees. I've even asked to speak with the GM & said I'd LOVE to do their tag work for $299/car, where do I apply for that concession. The look on their faces is priceless
