    2017+ BMW 5-series (G30 chassis) leaked!

This looks so much like a higher-quality and more modern E39 that I am in love with it. The F10 looked like an obese E39, and while it looked good, this one goes all the way back to the slim and sporty proportions of the 90s 5ers.

I could do without the headlights connecting with the grill (ghey detail from the F30 3-series that is lamentably continued here) or the vents in the fender (save that for the M5, please), but whatevs. I really appreciate this design. It reminds me of when the Q50 was revealed and how much slimmer and more attractive it looked compared to the G37.

    For comparison, here's Fat Bastard:

    And here is God:

P.S. I haven't had the chance to write much about it here, but I let go of my E39 525i for a few irreconcilable differences that, while in the grand scheme were minor, I didn't have patience for. My current 7-day schedule and need for more of a utilitarian beater killed that car. The quality niggles weren't awful, but the cooling system did piss me off (as expected). There was also one big issue for allergy sufferers such as myself that I was unaware of going in-- old (pre-2010) BMW HVAC systems get moldy as hell after a few summers. Spraying, fogging and changing filters doesn't do jack squat-- you need to replace the evaporator core which probably looks like the floor of the average rain forest. Since that would cost me about as much as a trade-in for a 3.5 Altima, guess what I did?

Despite this, I loved my E39. Let me tell you, if you own one, you realize that Nissan was trying to build a 5-series with all those 90s Maximas. It's a lot like those cars, but with a much better structure, G35-like handling, and a better ride quality than anything Nissan has ever made except perhaps the latest Infinitis. That said, if I go back to an E39, I'd:
    1) Get the 530i. You NEED to have an inline-6 if you buy a BMW, period. It's their version of the VQ/VR. The 525i can get out of its own way and shines in leisurely, 2.5 Altima-type acceleration, but when you really want to have fun, it does hold the excellent chassis back. 200+ hp is a must for a car this composed.
    2) Replace the entire cooling system and evaporator core right away. People will tell you that you're safe if you do the cooling overhaul in its entirety at 80,000 miles, bu they're lying more than Trump. My water pump went at 64,000 without warning on a particularly busy evening. I don't need water pumps that explode in my work/university parking structure. I also don't need 3 straight months of asthma attacks anymore. We moved away from the oil refinery 30 years ago so I'm done with that.

Also E39s rust (not nearly as bad as 3rd gen Altimas), and this G30 thing, which is made 100% of recycled Coke cans, will never corrode. So betwen that and the lung cancer and exploding water pumps and radiators, might as well wait until the G30 is 1/10 of its original MSRP. Yeah, the electric steering will have sucky feedback, but the pros far outweigh the cons.

    Is that a hybrid?

Hate to disagree, but I think the '17 looks way too old-fashioned for my tastes. The front end looks too much like big fat lips, and the lines of the car are just ... old-fashioned.

The "fat bastard" E-39 is IMO a lot more modern-looking and ... not really fat at all!

(Oh, and you accidentally said "Trump" when talking about lying. You obviously meant the lying queen Hillary. So that makes you wrong on two counts.)

Front looks like a Lexis F series wanna-be, I like the old style better.
Guess I'm just not much of a BMW fan. I've looked at & test driven them a number of times over the years but always bought something else.

I loved the late 90s and the late 80s ones.
used to own a ratted out 86 (I think) 528e.

It may have been ratted out but you could still really throw it around curves

These don't change much looks wise. This car looks a bit chunky for the times and for BMW. It does seem to be a bit of a backward design.

I called the F10 "fat bastard." I called the E39 "God" which it pretty much is, POS cooling and HVAC systems aside. That makes you wrong on one count, my brother.

Admonishing Clinton's dishonesty in defense of Trump makes you wrong on two counts, which you ironically claimed I was (I was in reality correct both times, tee-hee).

I will attack Trump at will wherever and whenever I please. Get used to it. He's awful even by modern GOP standards. As someone who does the same to anyone with a "D" next to their name, surely you understand.

I can understand this design not being everyone's cup o' tea, however, it does quite tickle my fancy.

What I would like to see is, in light of recent Nissan designs being reliability-challenged, who has the more durable turbocharged engine this time around: BMW or Infiniti?

    I LOL at you.
