All Things New 2018/19 Infiniti QX50

As we know the redesign on the QX50 is imminent. This will probably be the most important launch for Infiniti in a while... Probably since the Q50... as there's a 99.9999% chance this will become their best selling product. But it is also important because it is launching with some all-new tech that may be pivotal for Infiniti and the car industry overall with the introduction of the Variable Compression Turbo engine. So I figure it deserves its own thread.

It's rumored that the production model will be unveiled later this year and on sale early next year. So we're about ~6 months from this thing being on sales.

So to start things off, a few test mules have been spotted and the interior was completely uncovered:

I am DIGGING the interior! it looks 95% of the concept (below)!

Save the quilting, suede, wood and the obvious concept bits, very little has changed. And its very possible that they could pull a Design Package like on the Q50 and actually reintroduce most of those elements. It's also possible that what we're looking at is not the top of the line interior. I would imagine that the top of the line interior would have some kind of wood instead of the pictured aluminum trim.

I also like the new shifter. Looks upscale and up to par with what the rest of the luxury world is using.

I also noticed that, though they are not as nice as the concepts, the headlights seem to implement a more modern looking LED setup versus the less obvious single projector used in the Q50, Q60, Q70, QX30, QX60 and QX80.

The interior looks high-quality for the class but I was hoping Infiniti would lead the way with a fully digital, lcd speedometer display, even the toureg has it. Im really starting to admire the stance of the exterior.

I agree the interior looks VERY high quality. The dash looks like it's covered in leather and is pillow soft. That line/indention on the passenger side is so simple but I think it really makes a huge impact in the perceived quality. But let's also remember how premium the interior of the original EX was at its time, so I guess they're trying to attempt the same thing.

I'm iffy on the digital speedometer... I mean it would be nice but I hate the look of fake gauges. So I'm indifferent to it.

Interesting that they're using a two-screen setup a la Acura, given that so many have panned the same setup on Acura vehicles.

I thought about it I was getting off the highway and there was a long line of cars for the left lane so I'm coming down the right lane making a right hand turn when in the corner of my eye. I'm like this can't be right so I make the right hand turn and I'll pull up my camera they were making a left hand turn there is only a Nissan dealership down that way. Nissan is also debuting a new SUV at the LA Auto Show I think they said it was going to be a crossover so I don't think it's going to be the next Xterra. Maybe it's the new Juke or something? Since this will be a front-wheel drive platform I think? Will Nissan have a version of this vehicle? But then that would be the rogre. There are spy photos of the 2019 Altima but what about the 2019 Pathfinder they both came out in 2013 do you think that they will be showing a concept version of the next Pathfinder?

So both Nissan and Infiniti is going to be introducing a new SUV?

Seems to be the case the Infiniti isn't being released at the Los Angeles auto show. I think. It's going to be around the same time though. Hmm... it is in California where the new qx50.will debut also. I wonder how soon the q50 will get the new engine can it even be used for a rwd architecture.

My guess is that they were doing training at the Nissan dealership for service reasons.

Actually Infiniti has confirmed to reveal a vehicle for the LA auto show. Haven't heard anything about any introductions for Nissan at LA yet. Infiniti more then likely will introduce either the QX50 or QX80 at LA.

  17. #17
You're you're right I didn't read the whole thing. I only read Hawthorne municipal airport but on the top of that it says Los Angeles so I thought it was at a different part LOL. I read it on another website that Nissan will reveal a crossover. The reveal for Infinity says it's most advanced technology revealed yet so I'm guessing it is too qx50 with the new engine plus I believe they said that it would take you in November a long time ago.

  18. #18
Well you can cross off the QX80 because that was revealed today LOL

Yes.. another half ass attempt from Infiniti!!! Atleast update the infotainment system which is the first thing that catches your eye. You need a larger screen for that car, differentiate yourself from the Armada. I swear Infiniti just keeps kicking itself in the ass somehow. I understand that it sells OK for its class however that should not give give you any reason to fall into a comfort zone. The front end looks good but the rear should have been redone.

    The rear was redone
