These are actually pretty good times in the car world

Setting aside the current craze for SUVs for a minute, we are looking at the best selection of cars we've had available at any time in history.

Engines are producing the most power ever, turbochargers are becoming mainstream, fuel economy is excellent, emissions are almost non-existent, and there are interesting and exciting new safety and driver-assistance options available for our cars. We no longer have to back out of parking spaces blind, pull into the next lane without seeing that other car beside us, or even have to worry about staying in our lane on the road. And if we have a lapse in attention and the cars ahead suddenly stop, our cars will stop for us.

On top of that, there is an unprecedented selection of cars available without having to bust your budget. In addition to the new Altima, with an all-new engine design, there are excellent cars available from Honda, Mazda, Kia, Hyundai, Acura, Genesis, Toyota, and even one or two of the American mfr's and from Europe. And if you want a hybrid or electric car, there are those, too.

We just might be in a golden age of automobiles right now. And the emphasis on SUVs means that cars are probably less expensive than they will be for a long time.

Now is a great time to be in the market for a car!

Political correctness is cowardice wrapped in a lie.

    Agreed!
I can imagine in a couple years picking up a lightly used 2017 Altima and being enamored with it.
Leather, Bose, 40 mpg on hiway!

    Enamored with worn interior/dash?
"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses." They're not gonna catch us. We're on a Mission from God. Hit it.
