One of the highlights at the 2000 Chicago Auto Show was Nissan's premiere of the newly updated Frontier series truck. La Jolla based Nissan Design International was charged with the restyling of this important vehicle in Nissan's line-up.

Exterior Design
The front fascia has been extensively reworked to give the Frontier an aggressive "boxing glove" look as coined by NDI. The XE features an Xterra-like black bumper and fender-flares. The SE and SC (Supercharged) models get a much needed body color front bumper and fender-flares. One of the best features at the front are it’s new one-piece head-lamps. They feature two amber projector style turn signals. The side view changes with larger black or body color fender-flares. These flares are much larger than before and are punctured by "rivets" that hold the flares on. Out back there is a new tailgate latch w/lock and 3 new vertical indention’s with the words "FRONTIER" in between.

Interior Design
On the inside are revised instrument panel and seat fabrics. Now optional on SC and SE Crew Cab models are upmarket leather seating. There’s a new steering wheel with cruise control and optional stereo controls mounted to it. Optional is a new 6-disc in-dash CD player. (Stay tuned for some interior pictures.)
