Q: Where are Nissan vehicles designed and engineered?
A: Many of North American Nissan vehicles are designed (styled) in the United States at Nissan Design America (formerly known as Nissan Design International) in La Jolla, California (near San Diego). The current Frontier, Sentra, Altima, Maxima, Xterra, and Quest were primarily designed NDI. The exceptions are the Pathfinder and Infiniti vehicles which are designed in Japan at the Nissan Technical Center.

As for engineering, Nissan Technical Center North America (NTCNA) in Farmington Hills, Michigan is charged with coordinating testing and engineering of Nissan vehicles for North America. NTCNA also has offices in Tennessee, Arizona, and California. However the majority of core engineering work is done again at the NTC in Japan.

Q: Where are Nissan vehicles manufactured?
A: Many of Nissan cars and trucks are made in North America. The Altima, Frontier, and Xterra are built at the Smynra, Tennessee plant. Nissan recently announced plans to produce the new Maxima there as well. The Sentra is built in Aguascalientes, Mexico. All Pathfinders and Infiniti vehicles (the G20, I30, QX4, and Q45) are built in various plants in Japan. An all new plant in Canton, Mississippi is scheduled to go online the summer of 2003. The plant will produce the full size truck, a new SUV, and a new minivan to replace the Quest.
